   The Incident of the Vase at Soissons relates to the Law Code of Hammurabi. The Law Code of Hammurabi was set up on the basis of lex tallionis, which means the law of revenge. This is exhibited when Clovis chops off the warrior's head for crushing the vase. Clovis took on his warrior one year later.

 

 

Summary:

   Clovis and his men were known to pillage and plunder. One time Clovis' warriors pillaged at a Church and took a vase that was precious to the bishop of that Church. The bishop contacts Clovis and requests that the vase be returned to the Church. Clovis and his warriors equally divide the treasures out until Clovis asks that the vase be added on to his portion of the treasures. The warriors are not happy with this. One warrior is so upset with this that he crushes the case. The vase gets returned to the bishop in pieces. In return for crushing the vase, Clovis decides to chop off the warrior's head one year later at Campus Martius.
